Furniture that looks as if the wood has melted and fused together. By heating and pressing artificial wood—made from wood flour and resin—the components adhere to one another, creating organic distortions and protrusions while gaining strength. With natural wood, mortise and tenon joints must be meticulously designed; however, artificial wood, which incorporates the properties of resin, allows us to deviate from those rules. The material is heated using hot plates or heat guns, and the heated surfaces are pressed together in a press. Through this process of exploring form, a structure emerged that could never be achieved with natural wood. This is not merely an imitation of natural wood, but an attempt to reexamine the unique possibilities inherent in the material of engineered wood.
